Personal injuries caused by utter stupidity – are they still entitled to compensation?

A TEENAGER suffered serious head injuries when he fell from his skateboard after being towed by a fast moving car in Sydney’s west.

The 18-year-old was being towed with three others as they performed a thrill-seeking act known as “skitching” on Grande Pde, Sydney Olympic Park, in Sydney’s west, about 10pm.

The skateboarder lost his grip on the white Honda 4WD, being driven by a green P-plater aged 18, and hit his head on the road.

Paramedics rushed the man to Westmead Hospital with serious head injuries.
The three other skateboarders suffered minor injuries in the accident and were treated by paramedics at the scene.

Between eight and 10 of the man’s friends remained at the scene and were spoken to by police.
Police said last night the driver was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
They said the driver was assisting with inquiries and investigations would continue today. A similar incident led to the death of 17-year-old student Lachlan Burgess from Wagga Wagga in February.
